Don’t Know What to Wear? Try This Equation for a Cute and Minimal Everyday Outfit

I’ve never been a fan of any sort of mathematical or scientific equation, but this formula– I can get behind.
What I cannot and will not get behind is having a mountain of clothes on your floor or piled on that chair (if you know, you know) after deciding what outfit to wear. I refuse to go back to the dark days of not having this formula, and I refuse to change my desk chair back into a graveyard of forgotten clothes.
Figuring Out the Formula
I thought of this formula while in London, when I couldn’t sleep one night, and I was panicking about what to wear the next day. I was going to St. Dunstan in the East Church (highly recommend going there) and then off to see one of my favourite paintings at Tate Britain.
I had minimal clothes to choose from, but I had all the basics I needed to create a look that was chic enough for London.
The best thing to do when you don’t know what to wear is to grab a skirt of any kind (or jeans if skirts are not your vibe), an oversized sweater (for colder months) or your favourite cute top, tights for under the skirt, and a handful of accessories.

In a perfect world, I would be wearing knee-high boots, but I only packed one pair of shoes, and those were my trusty combat boots.
Depending on the weather, you can add a trench coat over top and knee-high boots. Pairing knee-high boots with a mini skirt is key, you don’t want to wear a mini skirt with ankle boots. Doing so creates an unequal proportion of your legs and ends up making you look shorter.
In the summertime, pairing the outfit with clean trainers or a kitten heel will complete the look.
Accessories for the outfit, I like to keep casual with earrings and a few rings.
You can not know what to wear and figure it out calmly, all without a huge mess of clothes. It is possible, I believe in you.
