Winged eyeliner is a classic and timeless makeup look. It was first used over 5,000 years ago in ancient Egypt. People would use kohl to mark long lines and wings across their faces as they believed it warded off evil. In the 1920’s, King Tutankhamun's tomb was found, and winged eyeliner had officially made its way to the Western world.
If you still don’t know how to master the wing then do not worry, I got you.
The key to mastering the wing is knowing your eye shape. Techniques are used for different eye shapes as different proportions are important to note in mastering the wing.
Unless you have a very unique eye shape, this 3-step method should work for you.
Step One – Locate the Outer Corner of Your Eye
From the outside corner of your eye, create a diagonal line up that should meet the crease of your eye.

Step Two – Create the Wing
Starting from the crease, draw a line to connect to the previous line.

After you connect those lines, draw a line from the inner corner across the lid and meet it with the crease line.
Step Three – Fill and flick
Colour the wing in and do what I like to call the flick. Very gently, drag your nail from the point of your wing and bring it out for a subtle and sharp finish to your wing.
